Can a 2% glutathione lotion brighten skin?

In a placebo-controlled split-face trial of 30 women, a 2% glutathione lotion brightened skin: pigment fell 10.7% in 10 weeks, against 3.1% with placebo.

Before you try it

These articles summarise published studies. They are not medical advice, and your own results may differ. Our products are cosmetics. As with anything new for your skin, try a small amount on your inner forearm for 24 hours first, and add one new product at a time. Stop using it if you notice redness, itching, burning or swelling. If irritation continues, or if you have a skin condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or use prescription skin treatments, please ask your doctor or pharmacist before starting.

PDRN is derived from salmon. If you have a fish allergy, please speak to your doctor before using it, and try a small amount on your forearm first.

Studies by ingredient

Every study we cite, graded, is listed on the research page of its ingredient: Copper peptide (GHK-Cu), Matrixyl 3000, Argireline®, PDRN, Glutathione.

The products made with these five ingredients are in our shop.
